Schedule of Courses, 2006

All of the courses below will be conducted by assistant teachers of S. N. Goenka using audio and video tapes of Mr. Goenka's instructions and discourses. All ten day courses begin the evening of the arrival day and end early morning of the departure day.

The schedule below is for courses held at the Vipassana Meditation Centre Dhamma Ketana in Cheriyanad , Kerala.   For information about courses in other centres please visit

Please note that some courses are full 2 - 3 months in advance. We encourage you to apply early in order to allow time to make travel arrangements once registered.

Your acceptance into a course is not assured until you have received an Acceptance Notification.

How to Apply to a Course

  1. Prior to applying read the Course Information and Code of Discipline.
  2. Download the application form, fill it out and email it as an attachment to:
  3. If this for any reason is not possible please contact the centre and we are going to send you a paper application.
  4. An application is required to register for all courses.
  5. Await notification. All correspondence will be through e-mail if you give an e-mail address in your application. Due to the large volume of applications, it may take up to 10 days before receiving notification.
  6. Once accepted for a course we require a confirmation of attendance from applicants to secure their place on the course.

Children's course : October 1st  to 2nd

10- day course    : December 21st , 2006 to January 1st , 2007

Ten-day courses are introductory courses to Vipassana Meditation where the technique is taught step-by-step each day. The courses begin after a 2-4 pm registration period and an orientation talk, followed by 10 full days of meditation, and end in the morning of the 11th day by 7:30am. Children's courses are designed for children 8 to 16 years of age. Visit our Childrenīs Courses page for information and application forms.

Adolescentīs courses are designed for teenagers 16-19 years of age, as an introduction to meditation. Presently we are not yet offering these courses.

Courses for Old Students A number of course types are exclusively for Old Students, i.e. persons who have completed at least one 10-day course in this tradition. These include short refresher courses namely 1-day courses and 3-day courses. Please refer to the course schedule.


Dhamma Service  : Since the Centre is still in its initial stage of development, we need not only service during courses and for maintenance of the centre but also for construction and developmental activities. For further information please refer to Dhamma Service.
